Victoria’s crime problem isn’t bad luck. It’s what happens when a justice system is designed around the feelings of offenders rather than the safety of victims. Repeat criminals get bail. They reoffend. They get bail again. The people paying the price are you, your family, and your neighbours.
The two major parties have had decades to fix this. One won’t. The other can’t. Here is what the Libertarian Party of Victoria will do.

We Will Fix
✓ Two strikes, no bail. Repeat violent offenders are remanded — no exceptions.
✓ One serious offence? Bail only if the court is genuinely confident there’s no risk. High bar.
✓ Fast-track serious cases. Months, not years. Fixed timelines. No more endless delays while victims wait.
✓ Break the repeat cycle. A new supervised order — mandatory treatment, regular court reviews, real consequences.
✓ Put victims at the centre. A dedicated case officer for every serious crime victim — informed, heard, not forgotten.
✓ Rebuild Victoria Police. Over 1,000 vacancies. Filled within two years. Treated as the emergency it is. Stop the SRL debt bomb to pay for police.
✓ Equal justice. Same crime, same sentence — regardless of background. No more two-tiered outcomes.
We Will Remove
✓ The tobacco black market. Cut excise tax. End the billion-dollar profit that’s driving arson attacks and murders across Victoria.
✓ The cannabis black market. Legalise for adults with sensible rules. Take roughly $1 billion a year away from criminal gangs.
✓ The vaping black market. Almost every vape sold in Australia is controlled by organised crime — because the law made it that way.
✓ Criminal profits from heroin. Expand treatment options. Reduce demand. Undermine a $200 million illegal market.
✓ CFMEU corruption cover-up. Queensland launched a Royal Commission. Victoria refused. We will order one — and follow the money.

YOUR RIGHT TO DEFEND YOURSELF When someone breaks into your home, police are minutes away. You have seconds. Right now, Victorian law may protect the intruder more than it protects you. We will legalise pepper spray immediately, and enact Castle Law so that reasonable self-defence in your own home is protected by law — not punished by it. |
A safer Victoria is possible. It requires a party willing to name the problem, back the police, support victims, and take on the vested interests that profit from the chaos.
