Make Net-Zero Voluntary, Not Mandatory

Victorian Libertarian Party Policy

We’re for clean tech – but not forced compliance. Australia produces less than 2% of global emissions. This does not justify coercion. Nonetheless, all those who wish to pursue and invest in carbon reducing technology must be free to do so. We support the freedom to innovate, not mandates!

In government the Victorian Libertarian Party will

  • Free up energy production. All energy technologies should be available, including coal, gas, wind, geothermal, solar and nuclear.
  • Cut the $1 billion corporate energy welfare program and remove nuclear prohibition
  • Slash red tape to let energy companies compete, not lobby.

Explanation

Victoria sits on huge coal and gas reserves, and even uranium deposits.

Common sense suggests we should have the cheapest power on Earth.

Instead: Victorians pay some of the world's highest energy prices.  Common sense policies will fix this.

Net Zero doesn't make sense.
